Released in 1982, Australian singer Jon Stevens recorded this album in Los Angeles in 1981. Produced by Trevor Lawrence and featuring John Robinson on drums, Steve Lukather and Paul Jackson, Jr on guitars and Richard Page/Steve George on background vocals. I ripped this from vinyl. This is a great album! Here is the download link: http://www61.zippyshare.com/v/91352185/file.html </div>

I ripped this from vinyl. There are still a few pops and clicks but I have tried to remove most of them. This one is very difficult to find. Every track on this album is pheonominal. Elton John plays on "Showdown" and "Saturday Night". Steve Carlisle (WKRP in Cincinnati) provides background vocals on "If You Don't Want Me To" (His solo album appears on this blog, check it out). Also included is a cover of the Airplay classic "Should We Carry On". His first was basically poetry readings, his 2nd was the AOR fav "He Who Rides the Tiger". This CD is great. All songs were written by Bernie and Martin Page. Martin Page also produced the CD. I have added 2 bonus tracks at the end "Backbone" and "White Boys in Chains" which are vinyl rips from 45s. These are B-sides that were not included on the CD. Elton John guests on "Citizen Jane" and "Billy Fury". Background vocalists include Tommy Funderburk and Hamish Stuart. It is eerie and haunting how this singer sounds like the late Karen Carpenter!!! Richard wrote and sings background harmonies on most of the tracks. Young Scott Grimes has a great voice and under Richard's guidance released an exceptional CD. Scott of course, as an adult, recently starred on the hit TV show "E.R." Scott also released a CD with a hard rock edge a couple of years back. I also have that CD if anyone is interested. He does most of the lead vocals and all of the background vocals. There are some guest vocalists like Dusty Springfield, Dionne Warwick and Scott Grimes and Herb Alpert plays solo trumpet on "When Time Was all We Had" which is a tribute to Richard's late sister, Karen Carpenter. I especially love the last track "I'm Still Not Over You". This is a great CD!!! Track 6 was co-written by Richard and Richard Marx. So here it is. The Japanese people really love our American singers like Bill Champlin, Joseph Williams, Tom Keane, etc. so there are a lot of these Japanese compilation CDs out there. And lets face it, if it weren't for the Japanese record labels a lot of these great artists would have no outlet to release new albums and re-issue older albums never released on CD here in the U.S. ( like Bill Champlin's Runaway CD). I have a lot of these compilation CDs. Most of these are L.A. artists singing English versions of Japanese hits. Most of them are recorded in L.A. and feature top notch musicians such as Michael Thompson, John Robinson, Nathan East, Mike Landau and more. Released in 1987, it is true straight ahead pop music. Produced by Greg Mathieson this is a must have if you like great melodic music. The title track was produced and written by "Joey Coco" which was a pseudonym for Prince who wrote the song especially for Deborah. I ripped this from vinyl LP. Unfortunately this one was never released on CD. "Take a Picture" is one of the most haunting ballads I have ever heard and is in my top 40 of favorite songs of all time. Released in 1990 only in Canada this CD contains 2 noteworthy tracks. "Letting Go" was produced by David Foster and features Danny Peck on harmony vocals as well as David Boruff on sax. This is the classic "David Foster sound" that I miss since David seems to be producing a totally different sound these days. The other track is "Long Way From Loneliness" produced by Humberto Gatica and arranged by Tom Keane, Tom and Jason Scheff provide background vocals and again David Boruff plays sax. The rest of the CD is really good too. RARE. This is an instrumental track written and performed by David Foster and Lee Ritenour. I'm not clear on the purpose of this track, it was either written for a Japanese commercial, sport event or movie. This is ripped from vinyl. It was only available as a 12 inch single and it took me YEARS to find it. This was ripped from vinyl. I have only included the "A" side of this album as it was the pop songs side. The "B" side was standards and not as good in my opinion. This album is notable because David Foster co-wrote the song "Learn to Love Again" and "Stop Me From Starting This Feeling" (the latter was also co-produced by David). Richard Page and Steve George sing background vocals on "Stop Me From Starting This Feeling" and Tata Vega sings duet on "Learn to Love Again". Great album!!! This album showcases some of the Omartian's best work in my opinion. Thank goodness that Japan releases these great vintage albums on CD since we can't count on the American Labels to do it. This album is in my top 20 all-time favorites list. Released in 1989 this CD was only available in Europe and I believe only in Germany. I'm not 100% sure on that, but I think it is correct. This CD is pure pop heaven with great lush arrangements. It was produced by Humberto Gatica and Robbie Buchannan and most importantly, David Foster produced Track 10 "Stay With Me". I can't say enough good things about this CD. If you don't have this one in your collection then you are missing out. No David Foster collection is complete without it for sure. Dionne Warwick duets on "You and I".
